Safe for cats and dogs. Any plant can still upset a pet’s stomach if they eat a lot, so keep it out of reach.
Bright, indirect light. No harsh sun.
Water when the moss surface is dry, about every 7-10 days
15-28°C. Below 15°C, buds drop easily.
No fertilizer while it's in bloom
Do this when you get home
- Put it somewhere bright indoors, out of direct sun, like an east-facing window
- Press the moss in the pot. If it's wet, don't water. Water when it's dry.
- Don't set it next to a heater or an air-conditioner vent
Day to day
- Water the moss. Never let water sit in the crown of the leaves (that rots the heart).
- In winter, use room-temperature water, not cold water
- After the flowers finish, count up 2-3 nodes from the base of the spike and cut above that. A side spike may bloom again.

Common questions
The buds yellowed and fell before they opened?
Usual causes: a sudden drop in temperature, a move, sitting too close to fruit, or air that's too dry. Keep the temperature steady and move it less.
The leaves are soft and wrinkled?
The roots may be rotten and can't drink (too much water), or it really is thirsty. Check the roots: plump green or silvery white is healthy. Brown, soft, and mushy is rot.
