15-25°C. Below 10°C it drops leaves.
No fertilizer while you're enjoying it
Do this when you get home
- Wrap it well on the way home. Poinsettias really hate a cold draft.
- Put it somewhere bright, warm, and out of cold drafts
- When the top of the soil is dry, water it through. Don't leave water in the bottom of the pot.
Day to day
- Don't put it next to a radiator or a cold window. Swinging from hot to cold drops a lot of leaves.
- The red parts are bracts. The real flowers are the little yellow beads in the center.
Common questions
A lot of leaves suddenly dropped?
Most often it got cold, or you watered too much. Move it somewhere warm, and wait until the soil is dry before you water again.
Can it turn red again next year?
Yes, but in fall it needs 14 hours of complete darkness every day for 6-8 weeks. That's hard to do at home.
