Once after flowering
Do this when you get home
- While it's blooming, keep it somewhere cool. In a heated room the flowers are gone in a few days.
- When the soil surface is dry, water it through
Day to day
- Prune as soon as the flowers fade. Leave two or three buds on each branch. Next year there are more flowers.
- In summer, don't keep the soil too wet. In fall, holding back water helps it set flower buds.
- In winter it needs a cold spell before it will flower. Don't leave it in a heated room the whole time.
Common questions
The buds dried up before they opened?
Usually it was next to a heater, too hot and dry. Move it to a cool balcony.
