Do this when you get home
- Lunar New Year tree peonies are usually forced early. Keep them somewhere cool and bright. The cooler it is, the longer they last.
- Water when the soil surface is dry. The fleshy roots hate sitting wet.
Day to day
- While it's blooming, keep it off the heater and out of direct sun
- After the flowers fade, cut them off and grow the roots outside in plenty of sun
- Tree peonies need a cold winter. In the north they can live outside. In the south, flowering every year is hard.
Common questions
It opened and was gone in a few days?
The room is too hot and dry. Forced Lunar New Year blooms are short anyway. Somewhere cool buys you a few more days.
