Safe for cats and dogs. Any plant can still upset a pet’s stomach if they eat a lot, so keep it out of reach.
Bright, indirect light. No harsh sun.
When the mix is slightly dry, water it through
10-28°C
While it's growing, feed lightly and often
Do this when you get home
- Put it somewhere bright and airy, out of midday sun
- Orchid roots are fleshy. Water when the mix (a gritty soil) is slightly dry. Never let it sit wet.
Day to day
- Water it through, until water runs out the bottom
- Airflow matters. Stuffy, damp heat rots the roots.
- Don't bruise new shoots as they come up
Common questions
The leaf tips turned black?
Usual causes: too much water and rotten roots, air that's too dry, or fertilizer that's too strong.
No flowers?
Not enough light, or the plant is still young. Chinese orchids usually need a mature plant before they flower.
