Not needed

Do this when you get home

  1. The stem is woody. Cut 3 cm on a slant, then split the end in a cross.
  2. Don't use deep water. 5-10 cm is enough.

Day to day

  • Change the water about every 3 days
  • The leaves blacken before the flower. You can pull the black ones off.
  • When you're done changing water, hang it upside down to dry. It makes a handsome dried flower.

Common questions

The leaves turned black?

Protea leaves fail before the flower. Pull off the black ones. The head still looks good.
