SeasonYear-round
FoliageA perennial

Meaning

Wealth coming in, good luck for a new shop

A usual gift for a new business. Nine times out of ten, too much water is what kills it.

Safe for cats and dogs. Any plant can still upset a pet’s stomach if they eat a lot, so keep it out of reach.

Light

Bright, indirect light

Water

On the dry side. Water only when the soil is bone-dry.

Temperature

18-30°C, not below 10°C

Feed

Once a month in spring and summer

Do this when you get home

  1. Put it somewhere bright and airy. Don't stick it in a corner with no light.
  2. A new money tree is usually still wet. Don't water yet. Wait until it's dry through.

Day to day

  • Drier is safer than wetter. Stick a skewer in the soil. If it comes out dry, then water.
  • In winter, water less: 1-2 times a month
  • Don't keep moving it

Common questions

The trunk went soft and the leaves all fell?

Most likely too much water and rotten roots. Press the base of the trunk. If it's soft, it's rotten. Take it out, cut off the rotten roots, let it dry, and pot it again.

The leaves yellow and drop, but the trunk is still firm?

Usually not enough light, or a cold winter. Move it somewhere bright and warm.
