DifficultyModerate
SeasonYear-round
FoliageA perennial

Meaning

Money coming in, a steady rise

Good-looking, and fussy. What it hates most is being moved.

The sap is mildly irritating to cats and dogs.

Light

Bright light. Some direct sun is fine.

Water

When the top 3-5 cm of soil is dry, water it through

Temperature

18-30°C, not below 10°C

Feed

Once a month in spring and summer

Do this when you get home

  1. Pick one bright spot and leave it there. Once it's settled, try not to move it.
  2. It may drop a few leaves when it first comes home. That's it settling in.

Day to day

  • Wipe the dust off the leaves now and then. That helps it photosynthesize.
  • Don't put it where an air conditioner blows straight on it
  • About once a month, turn the pot so it grows even

Common questions

Brown patches on the leaves, then they drop?

Usually too much water and a root problem, or a cold draft. Hold back water, and move it out of the draft.

It keeps dropping leaves?

Fiddle-leaf figs hate a change. Dim light, moving it often, and big temperature swings all drop leaves. Leave it in a bright spot and it settles.
