DifficultyModerate
SeasonYear-round
FoliageA perennial

Meaning

Something lasting, quiet refinement. A usual desk plant.

A feathery green for the desk. It hates drought, harsh sun, and wet feet.

Toxic to cats and dogs. Eating the berries causes vomiting, and the sap can irritate skin.

Light

Indirect light. No harsh sun.

Water

Keep it slightly moist. Don't let it sit wet.

Temperature

15-25°C, not below 5°C

Feed

Once a month in spring and fall, with a weak fertilizer

Do this when you get home

  1. A desk or a windowsill: bright, but out of direct sun
  2. Keep the soil just slightly moist

Day to day

  • When the air is dry, mist around it often. Yellow tips are usually dryness.
  • Let it dry a little between waterings. Water sitting in the pot rots the roots.
  • If the stems get messy, prune them. Climbing shoots can go on a small trellis.

Common questions

The leaves yellowed and dropped?

Usual causes: too dry, too much sun, or rotten roots. Check how wet the soil is before you decide.

The tips are brown?

The air is too dry. Mist more often, and keep it out of air-conditioner and heater drafts.
