PottedA very long season, almost year-round

Meaning

Gentleness, beauty, warmth

Little flowers in clusters that don't stop. Easy on a balcony or a windowsill.

Mildly toxic to cats and dogs (especially the roots). Eating it irritates the mouth and causes vomiting.

Light

Bright, indirect light. Shade it in summer.

Water

Water when it dries

Temperature

15-25°C. It hates heat and frost.

Feed

Every 2 weeks in bloom, with a weak fertilizer

Do this when you get home

  1. Put it somewhere bright, out of midday sun
  2. Water when the top of the soil is dry. The stems and leaves are juicy, and they hate sitting wet.

Day to day

  • Pull off spent flowers as they fade. New ones keep coming.
  • In summer heat, give it shade and air, and water less
  • If it gets tall and messy, cut it back. The cuttings will root.

Common questions

The stems went soft and flopped?

Too much water rotted the stems. Hold back right away and cut off the rotten parts.
